Seth Rogen and Chris Pine are frontrunners for `This Means War`
Reese Witherspoon has already signed on for the film, which tells the tale of two housemates who begin fighting for a woman who moves into their house.
Seth and Chris are now favourites for the role, with James Franco previously passing up the chance to play a part, The Wrap reports.
McG will direct the project, with James Lassiter and Will Smith producing.
A number of other stars have previously been linked to the movie, including Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon and Bradley Cooper.
Studio 20th Century Fox has been developing the movie since 1998, and scriptwriter Tim Dowling has penned the film.
Seth Rogen has a number of big comedy movies in his back catalogue, including `The 40 Year Old Virgin` and `Pineapple Express`.
`This Means War` is due for release in 2011.
